Wallingford Veterans Receive Free Home Repairs From House Of Heroes CT
Four veterans will receive no-cost home repairs with the help of student volunteers from Quinnipiac University and Choate Rosemary Hall.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Four veterans in Wallingford, including a husband/wife team, a Vietnam veteran, and the surviving spouse of a Korean War veteran, will receive no-cost home repairs from the non-profit veterans service organization House of Heroes Connecticut on Saturday morning.
Hamden-based House of Heroes Connecticut will kick off its 14th year of service on Saturday, March 29 by assisting four veterans in three homes in Wallingford.
The organization anticipates assisting more than 30 veterans once again this year, with monthly weekend projects through Veterans Day week, according to a news release.

“The work will be accomplished thanks to the support of a wide variety of Project Partners, including four new Partners this year – AMVETS Post 18 (Enfield), Cirtec Medical (Enfield), New England Financial Group (West Hartford) and Ring’s End Lumber (Branford),” officials wrote in the news release.
The 2025 Year of Service begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Wallingford homes of U.S. Air Force Veterans James and Martha Shea on Clintonville Road; U.S. Marine Corps and Vietnam Veteran George Messier of Nob Brook Road; and Joyce Baker of Merwyn Road, the surviving spouse of U.S. Air Force and Korean War Veteran Leonal Baker, who passed away in 2016, according to the news release.

“Helping make Saturday’s projects possible are teams of student volunteers from the Quinnipiac University classes of Professors Gail Garfield-Dadio and Mary Beth Schreindorfer, as well as students from Choate Rosemary Hall under the guidance of Director of Community Service Melissa Koomson,” the news release states. “With the completion of Saturday’s projects, HOHCT will have served 260 Veterans in 71 Connecticut communities and seven additional states since the organization’s founding in 2012.”
A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, House of Heroes Connecticut recognizes, honors and serves military and public safety veterans and/or their surviving spouses in need for their sacrificial service to America.
