Wallingford's Business Recruiter Retiring After 20 Years On The Job

Doreen DeSarro, who is charged with bringing in new businesses to town, is retiring on Sept. 25.

Doreen DeSarro, who has worked as the town’s business recruiter for the past 20 years, is retiring on Sept. 25.

The Record-Journal reports that DeSarro's job is to convince businesses to expand and relocate to Wallingford and also work with town boards to figure out how policies impact businesses. She considers Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield's move into Wallingford in 2011 as one of her biggest achievements, along with the relocation or expansion of Holo-Krome, APS Technology and BYK USA.

“I loved every minute of it,” DeSarro told The Journal. “I enjoyed the type of work that it is. I enjoyed especially working here in Wallingford.”
