On Oct. 17, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Wallingford Police received a 911 call from an employee of the First Niagara Bank, located at 316 Main Street, stating that the bank had just been robbed.

Bank employees stated that a hooded and masked black male entered the bank and immediately vaulted the counter and emptied one of the cash draws, making off with an undetermined amount of cash. He fled from the bank running south along Main Street where he was last observed.

The subject is described as being a heavy set black male, between 6’0-6’4, wearing an all gray sweatsuit with the hooded sweatshirt pulled tight around the face, wearing a surgical/dust style mask, and wearing clear latex gloves. No weapon was displayed and no injuries occurred.

Anyone who was in the area and whom might have witnessed the robbery or suspicious activity is asked to contact the Wallingford Police Department at (203) 294-2805. The Connecticut Bankers Association has offered up to a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
