Youth-serving organizations

I want to take a moment to recognize the wonderful work several organizations in town do to serve kids

I certainly cannot capture everything these organizations do, but I want to share some highlights.

Wallingford Family YMCA

Fit to Go provides younger students with education about healthy living and helps them develop plans for exercise. Upward Bound provides at-risk students opportunities for recreation, friendships, and adult mentorship.

Ulbrich Boys and Girls Club

The Torch Club is a leadership program designed for middle school students that provides opportunities to build leadership skills and perform community service projects. Weekly Tween Nights are held on Fridays, are free to Wallingford residents in middle school, and offer opportunities to build relationships with other kids and engage in fun activities.

Coalition for a Better Wallingford

The Coalition visits middle and high school lunch waves and has in-house activities to build relationships with students while doing art projects and board games.

Spanish Community of Wallingford

The Spanish Community of Wallingford also has a wide array of activities for students, ranging from baby play groups to leadership programs for middle and high school students to a thriving music school to tutoring programs. They also have a wonderful School of Music.

Wallingford Public Library

In addition to its wonderful collection of books, our library has a wide array of programming ranging from robotics to author visits to tutoring. The library’s Collaboratory is especially fascinating; it has a wide variety of craftmaking equipment that can be used independently or in classes they offer.
