How Do You Feel About The Salem Roundabout?

The $3.5 million Salem roundabout project has been finished, except for some final touches, as the roundabout has replaced the traffic light at the four-way intersection of Rt. 85 and Rt. 82.

The roundabout was the idea of former Salem First Selectman Bob Ross, with the Department of Transportation later agreeing. The DOT felt the four-way intersection was dangerous and said that a roundabout decreases the chance of fatal accidents.

However, not everyone is sold. In a recent article in The Day, Salem Economic Development Commission Chairman Frank Sroka said the roundabout has caused some drivers to make some "scary decisions."
