Massive Mall Space Back On The Block Again In Waterford

A space that was once home to a powerful retailer is up for sale again.

WATERFORD, CT — The former Sears property at the Crystal Mall in Waterford is again for sale.

The 850 Hartford Turnpike property is listed on Crexi.com with no asking price displayed.

The property is described as having over 150,000 square feet of retail/industrial flex space. It's nearby other major retailers like Target, Walmart, BJ's, Marshalls, and others.

The Sears property sold at auction for $2.7 million in 2023.

The news comes shortly after Electric Boat announced that it's purchasing the former Macy's property at the mall.

An Electric Boat official did not comment on whether the company might be interested in the Sears property as well, according to Hearst Connecticut Media.

The Crystal Mall has seen a downturn in recent years. JCPenney was the last anchor space to be occupied at the mall before the store closed last year.

Several other stores have closed so far this year. While there have been discussions about potential redevelopment of the property, mall officials have not announced anything official.
