Co-owner Nicole LaFountain came across Play It Again Sports after buying her growing son new hockey skates one month before the end of his hockey season. She noticed the lack of options in the Waterford area for buying affordable, second-hand sporting goods and decided she would fix it herself. In her former career as a dental hygienist, Nicole never imagined herself as an entrepreneur. Following a car accident a few years ago that left her with injuries to her arm, LaFountain had to leave her job of 15 years and adapt to something new. She went on to earn a number of yoga teaching certifications and discovered the healing power of exercise in her own life. Now alongside her brother, LaFountain is excited to bring Play It Again Sports to her hometown community.

“Having grown up in the area, I recognize how important sports are to the youth community here,” said Nicole LaFountain. “Now as a parent of two kids, I’ve seen firsthand the impact that playing sports can have in forming so many fundamental life skills, but I can also attest just how expensive it can be to fund those passions for growing kids. My brother and I are excited to bring an affordable, accessible service to Waterford that will help more young people engage in the activities that they love.”

Winmark’s resale concepts allow for quality used sports and fitness equipment to end up in someone else’s hands, rather than thrown into a landfill, providing a resource for shoppers who are looking to update their gear in a mindful environmental manner.

Unlike a typical consignment store, no appointment is necessary to sell sports and fitness equipment to Play It Again Sports. Plus, the store pays consumers on the spot for goods it purchases from them.
