Waterford 2023 Election Voter Guide: Candidates, Polling Places

WATERFORD, CT — On Nov. 7, Waterford residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions. Contested races include: Selectman, Board of Finance, Board of Education, Board of Assessment Appeals, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Representative Town Meeting.

Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration. To receive your absentee ballot, complete and sign an application and return it to your Town Clerk, or you can request an absentee ballot online.

First Selectman

Selectman

The Democratic candidate is Greg Attanasio. The Republican candidate is Richard Muckle.

Town Clerk

Republican candidate David Campo is running unopposed.

Town Treasurer

Republican candidate Abbas Danesh is running unopposed.

Tax Collector

Republican candidate Alan Wilensky is running unopposed.

Board of Finance

For Board of Finance, you will select up to four candidates. The Democratic candidates are David Peabody, John W. "Bill" Sheehan, and Cathy Barnard. The Republican candidates are Lee Couture, J. Robert Tuneski, Marc Mazzella, and Mike Rocchetti.

Board of Education

For Board of Education, you will vote for up to five candidates. The Democratic candidates are Laurie Wolfley, Doris Crum, Liz Garcia Gonzalez, and Marcia Benvenuti. The Republican candidates are Craig Merriman, Amanda Gates-Lamothe, Pat Fedor, and Mindy Stone.

Board of Assessment Appeals

The Democratic candidate is John R. Morgan. The Republican candidate is Marilyn Lusher.

Board of Assessment Appeals (for two-year vacancy)

Democratic candidate Jerry Porter is running unopposed.

Zoning Board of Appeals

For Zoning Board of Appeals, you will for up to two candidates. The Democratic candidate is William Herzfeld. The Republican candidates are Warren MacKenzie and Cathy Gonyo.

Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate

The Democratic candidate is Jason Kohl. The Republican candidate is Richard Smith.

Representative Town Meeting

District 1

For Representative Town Meeting, you will vote for up to six candidates. The Democratic candidates are Kayla Mullen, Ursula Moreshead, Lindsay Khan, and Nick Gauthier. The Republican candidates are Danielle Steward-Gelinas, Richard Holmes, Michael Perkins, and Timothy Condon.

District 2

For Representative Town Meeting, you will vote for up to six candidates. The Democratic candidates are Mary Childs, Ted Olynciw, Kyrah Augmon-Bossa, and Kristin Gonzalez. The Republican candidates are Mark Campo, Kate MacKenzie, Kevin Girard, and Craig Hart.

District 3

For Representative Town Meeting, you will vote for up to seven candidates. The Democratic candidates are Guy Calkins, Ron Elkin, Tim Fioravanti, Matt Charles, and Kathy Mullen Kohl. The Republican candidates are Ryan Healy, Jennifer Antonio-Bracciale, Shawn Monahan, Paul Goldstein, and Harry Colonis.

District 4

For Representative Town Meeting, you will vote for up to seven candidates. The Democratic candidates are Mariette Ogg, Ocean Pellett, Susan Driscoll, Jerry Fischer, and Erica Casper. The Republican candidates are Christina Jessuck, Matthew Keatley, Tom Dembek, David Sugrue, and Michael Bond.
