$1 Million Powerball Winner Sold In New London County
Check your tickets: CT Lottery said the lucky winner has yet to come forward to claim the prize.
VOLUNTOWN, CT — A New London County store sold a Powerball ticket worth $1 million, according to CT Lottery.
The winning Powerball ticket for Wednesday's drawing was purchased at Sunny’s Supermarket on Main Street in Voluntown.
"Known for its rural, quiet, and scenic nature, this area of New London County is buzzing with word of a newly-minted millionaire in its midst. The winning ticket matched all five white balls drawn: 25, 33, 53, 62, 66. The lucky winner has yet to come forward to claim the prize," according to a news release from the Connecticut Lottery.

No one won the Powerball jackpot during the latest drawing on Wednesday, with the grand prize growing to $1.5 billion. To win, a player would have needed the five white balls above as well as the red Powerball 17.
Additionally, in Connecticut, someone won a $50,000 prize and 38,075 "winning tickets" were sold for the Powerball drawing on Dec. 17, which simply means someone won between $4 and $1 million.

Powerball tickets, which cost $2, are available in Connecticut at gas stations, convenience stores, and grocery stores. The next drawing is Saturday, Dec. 20, and the deadline to buy tickets is 10 p.m.
Tickets can also be purchased from the Connecticut Lottery website.
The massive pot began accumulating in early September, after players in Missouri and Texas cashed in on the previous $1.787 billion jackpot. According to lottery officials, this is only the second time back-to-back Powerball jackpots have hit $1 billion.
The chances of winning the $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot are extremely low, at about 1 in 292.2 million.
