Waterford Elementary School Custodian Nominated For National Award
William 'Billy' Krajewski 'is a ray of sunshine at his school' and is known for 'taking part in all types of school activities.'
WATERFORD, CT — A Quaker Hill Elementary School custodian has been named a top 10 finalist for the Cintas National Custodian of the Year award.
William “Billy” Krajewski has been nominated for the award.
"The next phase of the contest is a public vote and we are asking all of our Waterford families and community to help support his nomination by voting for Mr. Billy," the town said on its website.

Krajewski's profile on the Custodian of the Year website reads: "Mr. Billy is a ray of sunshine at his school. He enjoys dressing up to excite students during spirit week and is known for his 'Joke of the Day' which he tells during lunch time. Outside of his job as custodian, he loves taking part in all types of school activities from working the concession stand at school events to cheering his students on during games – athletes often look for him at the games! He is there for everyone and does his best to provide a positive and healthy environment for all who enter his school’s doors."
Krajewski has worked at the school for over three decades. He was nominated for the award several times in the past, but this is the first time he made it to the top 10, WTNH News-8 reported.

More than 76 staff members and parents supported him in the effort, submitting essays detailing his value to the school.
