Waterford High School Hires New Principal
The board of education has appointed a new principal.
WATERFORD, CT — Kirk Samuelson has been named the new principal of Waterford High School, according to a statement from the district. He was appointed to the position at a Board of Education meeting last Thursday and will begin in his new role this Thursday.
Samuelson will start the job after former principal Andre Hauser resigned.
Samuelson brings 18 years of experience in education to his new administrative role in Waterford. He holds a Sixth Year in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Quinnipiac University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology from Roger Williams University.

Samuelson is currently assistant principal at Waterford High School, a position he has held since 2016. Previously he was the K-12 Science Curriculum Leader for the Madison Public Schools, as well as the Science and Health Program Coordinator (Department Chair) at Daniel Hand High School in Madison, according to the statement.
Samuelson taught for eight years in the Guilford Public Schools as a high school science teacher.

"Over these last six years, [Mr. Samuelson] has developed a reputation amongst staff and families as an administrator who is approachable; a listener; and a consensus builder," Superintendent Thomas said in a statement. "He possesses a deep knowledge of quality teaching and learning and has articulated a clear vision for Waterford High School.”
