WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police are investigating a late-morning armed robbery at a West Hartford credit union.

According to the West Hartford Police Department, a "bank robbery" was reported at the American Eagle Financial Credit Union at 1245 New Britain Ave. at about 11:31 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Police said the investigation was in the early stages and few details were being released regarding the suspect.

The WHPD did say there are no reported injuries and no threat to the public, and its patrol and detective divisions were on scene.

Police said the bank will remain closed for the remainder of Wednesday.

"Customers are urged to check the American Eagle Bank Financial Credit Union website for other locations available to conduct their banking," wrote the WHPD.
