Children And Digital Screens Topic Of Special West Hartford Event

The community is hosting a screening on Tuesday, Feb. 11, of a documentary film about children's lives in the age of cell phone and tablets.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The local school system and prevention community is hosting a special screening event of a documentary Tuesday, Feb. 11, on children and their phones.

The movie is called "Screenagers: Growing Up In The Digital Age" and local leaders will be showing the movie at Sedgwick Middle School, 128 Sedgwick Road, West Hartford, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

It is being hosted by West Hartford Prevention Partnership, West Hartford Public Schools, and West Hartford Community of Concern.

"Join us to view an engaging, solutions-oriented film about the challenges of helping youth navigate the digital age," wrote event organizers in an announcement.

"Especially helpful for parents of children who have phones or are considering getting their child a phone."

Youths in fifth grade and up are encouraged to attend and there is childcare available for those aged 4 and up.

Popcorn will be available as well.

According to event organizers, the film is "an insightful documentary that probes the struggles and challenges families face with social media, video games, and academic pressures."

"Attendees will take away practical solutions and resources to help children thrive in today’s digital world," said organizers.
