1. Have you ever though about becoming a teacher? UConn's Greater Hartford Campus in West Hartford is hosting an information session tonight at 6:30 p.m. to explain how you can earn an M.A. and Teacher Certification in one year through the Neag School of Education.

2. Forget all the debate semantics, and join in a conversation about the nation's fiscal realities. "Are we nearing the fiscal cliff?" That question will be posed at a public forum tonight at Conard High School at 7 p.m. Featured speakers include David Walker, CEO of the Comeback America Initiative, Brian Restrom, a partner at Blum Shapiro, James Torgerson, president and CEO of UIL Holdings Corp., and Kevin Lembo, state comptroller.

3. Peony fan? The Connecticut Horticultural Society hosts a talk tonight at Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford at 7:30 p.m. The speaker is Dan Furman, 26, nursery manager at the Cricket Hill Garden in Thomaston, which is famed for its peonies.
