WEST HARTFORD, CT — If you're driving through West Hartford, it would be a good idea to follow the rules of the road.

The West Hartford Police Department is watching.

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, the West Hartford Police Department conducted a selective traffic enforcement detail that focused on stop sign violations and cell phone use while driving.

The enforcement operation took place at the following locations:

• Mohegan/Seminole Circle

• South Main Street and New Britain Avenue

• Memorial Road and Isham Road

• Farmington Avenue near the Reservoir

As a result, the WHPD released the following statistics associated with the initiative:

• 51 Motor Vehicle Stops

• 42 Infractions Issued

• 9 Written Warnings

• 1 Verbal Warning

• 1 Vehicle Towed

"This operation involved four officers and reflects our ongoing commitment to keeping West Hartford’s roads safe," wrote the WHPD. "Please remember: staying off your phone and obeying stop signs saves lives."

The town is amidst its ongoing 'Vision Zero' traffic/pedestrian safety campaign, which is marked with a series of traffic improvements, public service announcements, and police enforcement.
