Dump Your Pumpkins With The Town of West Hartford
The town is operating two collection sites where people can donate old pumpkins for use as compost and/or biofuel.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Instead of just having your old pumpkins attract bears or rot into a stinky oblivion, have them "recycled" at two West Hartford collection sites this time of year.
The West Hartford Department of Public Works encourages residents to recycle their pumpkins instead of throwing them in the trash.

Last year, West Hartford residents recycled 16,100 pounds of pumpkins.
Folks can bring their pumpkins to two drop-off locations through Dec. 1:
The West Hartford Department of Public Works, 17 Brixton St., and Westmoor Park, 119 Flagg Road.

Collected pumpkins are sent to Quantum Biopower in Southington and turned into energy and compost.
