Free Narcan Training Offered For West Hartford/Bloomfield

The training sessions hosted by the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District will help folks reverse potentially deadly opioid overdoses.

The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District is hosting free, half-hour training sessions for anyone willing to learn how to administer life-saving medication to an opioid overdose victim. The first session is Thursday, June 12. The next one is July 10.

BLOOMFIELD/WEST HARTFORD, CT — Members of the community are invited to join a special training session that could help them save a life.

Folks are invited to sign up for a workshop on Thursday, June 12, or Thursday, July 10, from 5:30 to 6 p.m., hosted by the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District.

The session will be on Narcan (Naloxone), a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses.

During this session, participants will learn how to identify the signs of an overdose, how to administer Narcan, best practices for using prescription opioids safely, and gain an understanding of the Good Samaritan Law.

Participants will also receive a free Narcan kit.

The workshop is held at the WHBHD office located at 580 Cottage Grove Road, Suite 100, in Bloomfield.
