Fire Destroys Building, Spreads To Neighboring Home In West Hartford: WHFD

The fire happened late Saturday morning, and it is being investigated by the local fire marshal's office.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local firefighters swarmed a garage fire on Taylor Road late Saturday morning that damaged a fence and a neighbor's home.

According to the West Hartford Fire Department, at about 10:55 a.m. Saturday, the WHFD was called to a reported "outside fire" on Taylor Road.

The WHFD said units started arriving at 10:59 a.m. and discovered that a single-cear, detached garage behind a residence was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters said flames had spread to a fence and, then, a neighbor's home.

"Firefighters quickly placed hoselines to protect exposed property and extinguished all fire, limiting further damage," wrote West Hartford FD Deputy Chief James Silver in a statement Saturday afternoon.

Authorities said one homeowner suffered a minor injury and refused medical care and the fire is under investigation by the West Hartford Fire Marshal's office.

"West Hartford Fire greatly appreciates the assistance of the West Hartford Police Department, American Medical Response, and our mutual aid partners," wrote Silver.
