Growing Breakfast/Brunch Chain To Open West Hartford Restaurant

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford's diverse culinary scene is about to grow later this year, with officials at a New England-based brunch/breakfast chain announcing a spring opening in town.

"The Friendly Toast,"a small restaurant chain based in Portsmouth, N.H., specializes in "breakfast/brunch all day," also serving as a bar at night.

According to a spokesperson for "The Friendly Toast," the growing chain will open an eatery on LaSalle Road, West Hartford, sometime in the spring of this year.

The specific location, 36 LaSalle Road, was the former site of the old Division West restaurant, which shuttered about a year ago.

It currently operates 13 restaurants with seven in Massachusetts, four in New Hampshire, and one each in Vermont and Maine.

West Hartford will be "The Friendly Toast's" first Connecticut restaurant.

According to "The Friendly Toast" website, the West Hartford location was, originally pegged for a late 2024 opening in "the lively foodie town of West Hartford."

But that has been delayed slightly, company officials said.

"We plan to open in late spring. We don’t have an exact date yet. Construction is still underway, but looking great," said The Friendly Toast's Director of Marketing Madelyn Dignam on Wednesday.

The new eatery comes as West Hartford is growing, with many new apartment developments — some affordable, some upscale — planned in town and, even, on LaSalle Road.

What separates "The Friendly Toast" from most establishments is the food is all breakfast fare that can be eaten and enjoyed all day and night.

One look at "The Friendly Toast" menu and it's easy to see why it might become a popular hangout for the hip, trendy crowd.

Signature brunch dishes include chicken and waffles, "classic breakfasts" and hash quiche (not that kind of hash).

Then there's breakfast tacos, breakfast egg rolls, and the ever-popular-with-the-trendy-crowd avocado toast.
