Hall Football Suffers Tough Loss to Glastonbury 35-28

The Hall High football team had its 10-game regular season home winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 35-28 loss to Glastonbury at Chalmers Stadium.

The Warriors (0-1) jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the Tomahawks (1-1) in the first half, courtesy of several big plays.

On Hall’s opening drive, Javone Bellamy’s 67-yard run set up his 1-yard touchdown plunge to give the Warriors a 7-0 advantage.

Early in the second quarter, quarterback Thomas Honyotski (13-for-27, 240 yards, 3 touchdowns) connected with Maurice Bell for a 45-yard touchdown strike to double the Warriors’ advantage.

But fortune subsequently smiled on Glastonbury, as a high snap on a Hall punt gave the Tomahawks excellent field position at the Hall 33. Five plays later, Glastonbury quarterback Jalen Ollie hit Ethan Ericson with a 19-yard touchdown pass to pull the Tomahawks pull to within 14-7.

In the third quarter, Glastonbury caught another break when punter Kyran McKinney-Crudden dropped a snap, picked up the ball and ran six yards for a first down at the Tomahawk 41. Glastonbury parlayed that second chance with a score, as Anthony Anisimov caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Ollie to make it 14-13. The ensuing extra point was blocked.

Hall answered in the next drive when Honyotski hit Neil Kelley with a 20-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-13 with 2:44 left in the third quarter.

Glastonbury pulled level early in the fourth quarter when Romelle Jack rushed for a touchdown and the Tomahawks nabbed two points on the ensuing conversion.

Both teams then traded touchdowns, with Honyotski passing to Kelley for 26 yards for a score and Glastonbury’s Romelle Jack rushing for a 5-yard score.
