WEST HARTFORD, CT — A fire broke out at a West Hartford home early Friday morning, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to the call reporting a structure fire at 38 Fenwood Road at about 3 a.m.
Crews arrived at the address to find smoke coming from the rear of a single-family, one-story home.

There was an active fire in the basement that crews worked quickly to bring under control, knocking down the blaze within minutes. The fire was officially under control at 3:19 a.m.
Everyone in the home escaped safely. No firefighter injuries were reported.

Fire damage was contained to the home's basement area and did not reach the first floor. However, the home had smoke damage throughout.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
