Iconic West Hartford Furniture Retailer Announces Imminent Closure
The business, a local institution for 41 years, sold its building earlier this year.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — A prominent furniture store in town is in its final days, with all of its inventory on sale right now following the announcement of the store's closing earlier this month.
Connecticut Home Interiors, located at 830 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, announced Sept. 4 that it was officially closing after decades in business.
The company dates back to 1932, when it opened as a department store in Hartford, selling furniture, appliances, bicycles, and other products.

"After 41 incredible years, we are closing our doors — but not without saying thank you," wrote the owners. "To our loyal customers, supportive community, and all the families we’ve furnished over the decades: you’ve been the heart of everything we’ve done.
"From helping you pick your first sofa to finding the perfect dining table for generations of memories — it’s been our honor to be a part of your homes and your lives.
"Though the showroom lights may be dimming, the gratitude we feel will never fade."
News of the closing is not surprising, as the store announced it had put the building on the market more than a year ago, reportedly a precursor to the ownership's retirement.
The building was reportedly sold earlier this year for development into a retail/medical facility.
Meanwhile, the store is looking to unload as much of its inventory as possible before closing, though no formal final day has been announced.
It is currently fully into a going-out-of-business sale, and the store says all items on display are available, with customers able to see it, buy it, and bring it home the same day.
The store is also still offering delivery services to those who need it, according to the store's website.
