WEST HARTFORD/FARMINGTON, CT — A popular place for folks to grab a cup of gourmet tea at the Westfarms Mall will close for good this Sunday, Aug. 24.

"We’re celebrating and thankful for all of you — our friends and fellow tea lovers who made this journey possible. We hope you enjoy these anniversary savings," wrote the owners.
The closure comes after 16 years in operation at the mall, with the establishment opening on Aug. 15, 2009.
In recent days, The Green Teahouse has been posting goodbyes and thank yous on its social media accounts.
The owners broke the news of its closure on Aug. 7 with an emotional message on Facebook.
"After 16 wonderful years of serving you in our Teahouse, the time has come for a new season," wrote The Green Teahouse.
"We are closing our physical location to focus fully on our growing online store, where we will continue to share the teas and products you’ve come to love.
"We want to express our deepest gratitude for your faithful support, friendship, and prayers over the years."
Mall officials said The Green Teahouse will be missed.
“The Green Teahouse has been an honored and cherished retailer of Westfarms. We wish them well on their future business endeavors,” said Amanda Sirica, Westfarms spokesperson, on Tuesday.
