Victim Identified In Fatal West Hartford Accident: Police: UPDATE
The accident happened Sunday night when a vehicle struck a pedestrian at a busy West Hartford intersection.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Police Monday have confirmed the identity of a male pedestrian found dead Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle at a busy West Hartford intersection.
The pedestrian killed has been identified as Stephen Mendelsohn, 63, of New Britain, police said.
According to the West Hartford Police Department, the driver of the involved vehicle, a 28-year-old Bristol resident, remained on scene and was cooperative in the investigation.

According to the WHPD, at about 9:49 p.m. Sunday, local police, firefighters, and emergency medical services rushed to the intersection of New Britain Avenue and South Main Street for a report of a car striking a pedestrian there.
The pedestrian was found to be unresponsive at the intersection and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving medical efforts, police said early Monday morning in a release.

The West Hartford Police accident reconstruction team was called to investigate the accident.
The intersection was closed for several hours, but was reopened at about 5 a.m. Monday morning.
"The West Hartford Police Department would like to thank the West Hartford Fire Department and AMR for their efforts on the scene," wrote police.
