'Self-Care Fair' To Help West Hartford Parents Of Teens

The free event Sunday will feature panel discussions/forums on the difficulties parents of teens face and how they can mitigate them.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Raising children in middle and high school brings with it challenges to parents and pupils alike.

This is why parents are invited to a special forum at the Mandell Jewish Community Center of Greater Hartford, 335 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford, on Sunday, Oct. 27.

The event — called the "Self-Care Fair" — will take palce from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the JCC.

Sponsored by several community organizations, the forum will explore the relationship between parents and their adolescents and ways to improve health.

A panel discussion will take place on strengthening parent/adolescent relationships, with workshops planned on reducing stress; increasing self compassion; nutrition and health living; and investing in self-care.

In addition, the event will feature free, 5-minute chair massages, prize drawings and refreshments.

The lead sponsoring group is West Hartford Community of Concern, a local nonprofit dedicated to programs targeting mental health and wellness for local youngsters.
