Special Celebration On Breastfeeding Slated In West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A major healthcare provider is hosting a special event in West Hartford on Saturday, Aug. 24, to celebrate a natural, biological act between a mother and child.
Folks are invited to join Hartford Hospital Special Deliveries Childbirth Center for a "fun-filled stride around West Hartford Center" in celebration of National Breastfeeding Month.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St.
Visitors will be able to enjoy engaging activities, breastfeeding support, and a chance to connect with other families in the community.

This year's theme of National Breastfeeding Month focuses on ‘equity’ and ‘access’ for all – highlighting the disparities in breastfeeding rates among Black women.
“Celebrating National Breastfeeding Month with this community stroll is a testament to our commitment to supporting families on their breastfeeding journey,” said Mary Marshall-Crim, APRN, lactation manager at Hartford Hospital. “Breastfeeding has its challenges, and we want to show the community we are here to support them.”
The stroll is the culmination of National Breastfeeding Month activities hosted by Hartford Hospital, which previously included a flag dedication and wellness fair.
Hartford Hospital is one of eight hospitals in the country that has been designated as a “Baby-Friendly” hospital consecutively for 24 years, according to Hartford Healthcare.
Hartford Hospital’s lactation department includes 12 Lactation Consultants that are available for moms and babies seven days a week.
