Teen/Tween ADHD Topic of West Hartford Parent Forum
A local agency dedicated to youth mental health and wellness is hosting the event on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at West Hartford Town Hall.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Those raising tweens/teens with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder know of the challenges faced on a daily, sometimes hourly, basis.
A special forum on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at West Hartford Town Hall will help parents/caregivers know they are not alone.
Called "ADHD Parenting: Navigating the Tween and Teen Years," the forum will take place at town hall, 50 S. Main St., West Hartford, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 400.

It aims to be a "supportive space for caregivers of adolescents with ADHD to share their experiences and resources," according to West Hartford Community of Concern.
WHCC is a local agency dedicated to raising awareness and educating the local school community on mental health and wellness issues facing youths.

According to the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ADHD sufferers have trouble paying attention, controlling impulsive behaviors, and often act without thinking about consequences.
Often misunderstood, ADHD cannot be cured and the symptoms are much more serious than more common behavioral issues that all parents face.
Though incurable, ADHD can be managed with medication, therapy and/or both and symptoms often subside as people age.
