USJ Will Hold First Co-Ed Commencement In Hartford This Weekend

The University of St. Joseph will confer degrees on male undergraduates for the first time this weekend in a ceremony at the XL Center.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The University of Saint Joseph will confer degrees on male undergraduates for the first time in the school's history at its commencement ceremony this weekend.

The West Hartford-based school's 87th Commencement will take place at the XL Center in downtown Hartford on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. The ceremony will honor both undergraduate and graduate students.

Congresswoman Jahana Hayes — who graduated from the University of Saint Joseph with an M.A. in education in 2012 — will deliver the keynote address, and one undergraduate and one graduate student will speak as well.

The class of 2022 is USJ's first coeducational undergraduate class, as the school welcomed male students for the first time in fall 2018 after decades of being an all-female university.
