West Hartford Church To Help Folks Prepare For Life's Challenges

The Westminster Presbyterian Church on Sunday is hosting an author/chaplain who wrote a book about being 'peaceful and prepared' for life.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — No doubt about it, these are stressful times to be alive.

But one local church is offering an event Sunday, June 29, that aims to help folks "weather the storm," so to speak

The Westminster Presbyterian Church's Community Mental Health Hub is inviting the community to meet the author of the book "Weathering the Storm: Simple Strategies for Being Peaceful and Prepared."

It will feature author and chaplain the Rev. Dr. Tracy Mehr-Muska on Sunday, June 29, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2080 Boulevard, West Hartford.

This free, interactive program — open to ages 12 and up — aims to offertools to help individuals prepare for and grow through adversity.

In her book "Weathering the Storm," Mehr-Muska shares personal experiences of resilience through hardship.

“Just as we practice fire drills before a fire,” she writes, “we must prepare ourselves emotionally
and spiritually before the storms of life hit.”

This event will offer inspiration, practical strategies, and a safe space for reflection, helping participants face future challenges with greater confidence and calm.

The program is free, and light refreshments will be available.

The event launches Westminster’s 2025–2026 Community Mental Health Hub theme, "Weathering the Storm," which will feature a series of events focused on mental health education, caregiver support, and strategies to reduce stigma and build resilience in our community.
