WEST HARTFORD, CT — People looking to easily access the town's financial and budgetary records are often not disappointed when dealing with West Hartford.

And an independent agency's recent designation to the town is evidence of that.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Town of West Hartford for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.

The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Credited toward this end were Lisa Newton, Pattie Lewis, Angela Iudiciani, Karie Hupfer, Erica Sledge, Jackie McLaughlin, and all the West Hartford financial services staff.

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program (CAFR Program) in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements.
