Major Muslim Celebration In West Hartford Postponed: UPDATE
The event will take place on June 14 at Blue Back Square on Isham Road from 5 to 9 p.m. and feature food, music, and cultural programs.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — A prominent West Hartford shopping area is hosting a special Eid Celebration on Saturday, June 14.
Originally slated for May 31, a poor weather forecast prompted a two-week delay and the event's rescheduling, officials said Friday.
The "vibrant" Muslim event will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at Blue Back Square (60 Isham Road), West Hartford.

"This free-entry event is a beautiful opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate a cherished tradition rooted in unity, gratitude, and joy," wrote event organizers.
According to organizers, Muslims around the world celebrate two major holidays each year: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

This event commemorates Eid al-Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice. "
It honors the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) devotion and willingness to sacrifice for God, serving as a powerful reminder of faith, compassion, and giving.
"Eid al-Adha is celebrated through prayer, acts of charity, and family gatherings," wrote organizers in an announcement.
"It is a time for reflection, generosity, and strengthening bonds within the community."
Saturday's celebration will have:
- Live cultural performances that showcase music, dance, and traditions from cultures that celebrate Eid.
- Delicious international dishes, both savory and sweet, from a variety of cuisines.
- Beverages include chai, coffee, and tea with traditional sweets.
- Eid shopping booths feature embroidered traditional clothing, jewelry, and hijabs, handmade crafts and sweaters, and Islamic calligraphy and decorative arts.
- Fun and interactive activities for children and families, including henna art and face painting, twisting balloons, LED light-up toys, popcorn, and cotton candy.
