Hall sophomore Vinh Dang has earned a spot on the U.S. National Team and will compete in the world championships in Benidorm, Spain.
Vinh Dang of West Hartford earned a silver medal in his first ever Junior National Taekwon-Do competition, giving the Hall High School sophomore a spot on the U.S. National Team and the opportunity to compete in the world championship event in Spain.
Dang, who is a first degree black belt at White Tiger Taekwon-Do School in Manchestser, competed in the ITF Taekwondo International Championship at Nomads Adventure Quest in South Windsor on April 20, against approximately 80 other competitors from throughout the country.
Despite the top-level competition from more experienced opponents, Dang finished with a silver medal, earning his National Team status.
He will join the team traveling to Benidorm, Spain in October for the 2013 ITA World Championship – the largest ITF World Taekwon-Do Championship which includes competitors from over 60 countries.
Dang said he is thankful for the training he received at the White Tiger School of Taekwon-Do, that prepared him with the training necessary to compete at such a high level.
