Young Bicyclist Rushed To Hospital After Hit-And-Run In West Hartford: Police

The West Hartford PD is searching for the vehicle responsible, believed to be a dark-colored SUV or hatchback.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A young bicyclist was rushed to a hospital Tuesday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle at a busy intersection in West Hartford.

According to the West Hartford Police Department, the male juvenile bicyclist was hit at the intersection of Albany Avenue and Lindy Lane.

The WHPD said at 7:01 a.m. Tuesday, West Hartford police, fire, and EMS were dispatched to the area after the accident was reported. Reportedly, the teen was on his way to Hall High School.

"The bicyclist, a juvenile male, was alert and conscious upon arrival of emergency services. The juvenile was transported to the hospital for medical treatment with non-life-threatening injuries," wrote the WHPD in a release.

Police said the vehicle that struck the cyclist fled the scene east on Albany Avenue and was described as a dark-colored SUV or Hatchback.

"The West Hartford Police Department’s Traffic Division is actively investigating the incident," wrote police. "The West Hartford Police Department would like to thank the West Hartford Fire Department and AMR for their efforts on scene."
