Coyote Chases People Near School In West Haven: Police

Police are advising residents of several coyote sightings that have been reported in West Haven.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Police are advising residents of several coyote sightings that have been reported in West Haven.

Police said the sightings have been reported in several areas of the city, and mostly in the area of West Haven High School.

ā€œPlease remember that coyotes are common in Connecticut and are generally not a threat to people,ā€ police wrote in a post on Facebook. ā€œHowever, they are wild animals and can become aggressive. Today this coyote (below) chased a couple of people near the High School. Fortunately there were no injuries reported.

ā€œWe are working with our Animal Control and our state friends at the DEEP to assist with the safe relocation of this coyote.ā€
