Cohen will lead the ballot as the Republican Party's nominee on Row B, as well as be listed on Row C as the Independent Party's mayoral candidate. The unanimous choice of the Independent Party's West Haven Town Committee, Cohen said, "I am honored to accept this cross-endorsement. It is more than a party label, but a call to action."
"I am following the legacy of many other Republican and Democrat elected officials and candidates that have been cross-endorsed by the Independent Party,” Cohen said. “West Haven is demanding change and I'm proud to be recognized as that agent of change for Republican and Independent voters."

Last week, Cohen a lifelong Westie, won a decisive victory in the Republican Primary earning over 65% of the votes in what was a record number of Republicans (over 29%) that cast ballots in a West Haven municipal primary. Cohen noted that leading both party tickets mirrors his longtime belief that, "It should never be about R, D, I, or U... Because it's about Us!"
Shawn Brown, Chairman of the West Haven Independent Party Town Committee and State Central Committee Member, said, "Barry is the real deal and offers positive change you can trust. He is NOT 'politics as usual,' that West Haven has endured for over three decades. Barry will tackle the critical issues confronting our city while bringing inclusiveness, energy, and professionalism to the Third Floor of City Hall."

The Independent Party line will also include a slate of City Council candidates for both select districts and city-wide: Debbi Bell (D), District 5; Shawn Brown (IT), District 6; Portia Bias (IT), District 7, Robert Barry (D), District 8; and Councilwoman-at-Large, Colleen O'Connor (R).
Cohen stated, "The November 7th election will be a Referendum on Change. Having the same party in power for over three decades has resulted in economic neglect, high taxes, blight, and financial corruption, as well as a decline in safety and security. The public trust is broken and the party that shattered it cannot be trusted to repair it."
