Man Accused Of Exposing Himself Near Children In West Haven: Police

The man is accused of exposing himself at a field where children were playing Saturday morning in West Haven, according to police.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A 76-year-old man is accused of exposing himself at a field where children were playing Saturday morning in West Haven, according to police.

A man was seen around 10:25 a.m. on June 14 standing along the fence at Veterans Field with his pants down just above his knees, “fondling himself in public view,” according to Sgt. Scott Allard.

Allard said children were actively playing on the field at the time of the incident.

Officers checked the area to try and find a Chevrolet Colorado that the suspect left in, according to Allard.

Police later learned that an officer working a road job found where the Chevrolet Colorado possibly was.

Allard said officers followed up at an address on Coleman Street and found the vehicle that was displaying a temporary North Carolina plate. They made contact at the home and found a man matching the suspect’s description, according to Allard.

The suspect was identified as 76-year-old Roman Rodriguez of West Haven, according to Allard.

Allard said Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident and taken to police headquarters.

Rodriguez was charged with breach of peace and public indecency.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
