Obituary: Donna J. (Onofrio) Nero, 56, formerly of West Haven
Donna, always devoted to her family, worked for Travelers Insurance and served as a counselor at Camp Rising Sun for many years.
WEST HAVEN, CT - (From West Haven Funeral Home) Donna J. (Onofrio) Nero, 56 of Northford, formerly of West Haven, passed away on November 1, 2021, with her family by her side.
Born in New Haven on July 25, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Dr. John E. & Eleanor (Cardascio) Onofrio.
Donna is survived by a large and loving family, including her beloved husband of 18 years, Larry S. Nero, her cherished children, Alyssa and Antonio Nero, her siblings, John F. Onofrio (Fran Gambardella), Dara L. Onofrio, Michael Onofrio (Frank Anastasio), Lisa (Tom) Morgillo, Maria (Mike) Toohey, niece to Lorraine and Frank Cardascio, sister-in-law to Mark (Melanie) Nero, Joe (Kristin) Nero, and the late Raymond Nero, many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and her pets Scout and Marco.
Donna graduated from West Haven High School and received her bachelors degree from the University of New Haven.
Donna was employed by Travelers Insurance for over 30 years, most recently as a Data Engineer. She was a 40 year cancer survivor and served as a counselor at Camp Rising Sun for many years.
Donna was a devoted and dedicated mother, and her children were her pride and joy.
She enjoyed skiing, scuba diving and hiking, and held multiple black belts in martial arts.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 9, from 9-11 AM at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM in St. Lawrence Church, West Haven. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Donna’s family.
Masks will be required for all services.
