Obituary: Douglas G. Butler, 78, of West Haven

Doug served many years as plant manager for Ware Chemical in Stratford, proudly served in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed boating and fishing.

WEST HAVEN, CT - (From West Haven Funeral Home) Douglas G. Butler, 78, a longtime resident of West Haven died on February 1, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Celeste DeSireo Butler for 40 years.

In addition to his wife, Doug leaves his son Robert D. Butler, daughter-in-law Amy, three grandchildren Avery, Emerson and Ian and his much -loved dog Redmond. He was predeceased by his son Brian M. Butler, sister Beatrice Thompson and four brothers Harrold, William, Mervin and Edwin.

Doug served two years in the US Navy aboard the USS Everglades. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed by Ware Chemical in Stratford, CT as the plant manager for over twenty- five years.

Boating and fishing were among his favorite hobbies.

He also loved nothing more, except maybe his trips to the casino, than to enjoy a great round of golf on a warm sunny day.

Throughout his life Doug was known to stand his ground on principles he believed in. He was a man of strong convictions and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will take place on SUNDAY February 6 from 2 to 5 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home. Donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
