Obituary: Joseph Kalocsai, Jr., 79, of West Haven
Joseph enjoyed a long successful career as a tool and die maker. He cherished spending time with family, friends and little dog, Toby.

WEST HAVEN, CT - (From West Haven Funeral Home) Joseph Kalocsai, Jr., 79, of West Haven, died unexpectedly on December 15, 2021.
Born in Budapest, Hungary on April 21, 1942, a son of the late Joseph and Katalin (Urnspringer) Kalocsai, Sr. Survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Marika (Nyilassy) Kalocsai; son George Kalocsai; daughter Christina Shea; as well as grandchildren Cassandra and Ryan Shea.
He is also predeceased by his first wife Susan Kalocsai.
Joseph immigrated to the United States in 1967, wherein he embarked on a career as a tool and die maker. He established his own business in 1978, also becoming a machinist, enjoying a successful career until his sudden passing this week.
Joseph was blessed with many dear friends, enjoying their company over the span of many decades. Both he and Marika adored to cook and entertain, enjoying the countless events shared within the family home for their delicious ‘old fashioned’ signature Hungarian cooking.
Joseph was a very active individual; he took great pleasure in riding his bicycle, venturing out for long walks, fishing whenever possible and swimming at the JCC twice weekly. Above all else, he took greatest pleasure in spending time with his family, friends and little dog, “Toby”.
He will remain dearly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues for which he conducted business with for the past 43 years.
Calling hours will take place in the funeral parlor on Thursday, December 23rd, from 2 to 3:30pm. A funeral service will commence in the funeral parlor at 3:30pm.
Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s name to The American Cancer Society.
