Obituary: Laura Hufcut Gilbertson, 59, of West Haven
Laura, an employee of MetLife for 20 years, was known as loyal, loving, compassionate and caring.

WEST HAVEN, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Laura Hufcut Gilbertson, age 59, of West Haven, beloved wife of David who predeceased her, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital.
Born on December 8, 1961 in Milford, she was the daughter of Shirley Walker Hufcut and the late P. Alton Hufcut.
Laura was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and after working at healthcare facilities in Waterbury and Milford, she went on to work for MetLife where she was employed for over 20 years.
Laura was exceptionally loyal to her friends and family. She was loving, compassionate, and caring.
She had the most beautiful smile and piercing blue eyes, which could light up your soul.
She loved life and enjoyed the years she spent singing with her band in restaurants and clubs. Most of all, she loved and adored her nieces and nephews; they were her world.
In recent years she and Dave purchased their retirement home in New Hampshire which was her “Happy Place”.
As a parishioner of St. John Vianney, she was a eucharistic minister and volunteered for many of the church’s activities; such as, the annual carnival.
Laura is survived by her Mother, Shirley Walker Hufcut of Milford, her sister, Sharon Paul of Milford, her brother Paul Hufcut (Carmen) of Milford and her brother John Hufcut (Michele) of West Haven.
She is also survived by her nieces Shelby Paul, Violet Gilbertson, Lily Gilbertson, and her nephews John Emmett Hufcut (Sara), Sean Hufcut, Brant Hufcut and Erik Wicander.
She also leaves behind her great-niece, Charlotte Hufcut, her great-nephew, Henry Hufcut, her beloved dog Roxy and so many loving family, friends and neighbors.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff at Bridgeport Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to Laura.
At Laura’s request, there will be a church/funeral service on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. Our Lady of Victory, 300 Captain Thomas Boulevard, West Haven, CT 06516. Burial will be private.
