Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle On I-95 In West Haven
The pedestrian was struck while walking across I-95, according to Connecticut State Police.
WEST HAVEN, CT — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle while walking across I-95 North near Exit 42 in West Haven on Wednesday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police.
Police said the crash happened around 12:25 p.m. after a pedestrian had run across three lanes from the southbound side of I-95 and into the center median.
The pedestrian then jumped over the center median and walked into the left lane on the northbound side, causing a vehicle traveling in the left lane to stop abruptly, according to police.

Police said the driver of a 2010 Toyota Rav4 had veered into the center lane to avoid colliding into the vehicle in front of it, and struck the pedestrian as he was entering the center lane.
The pedestrian, later identified as 41-year-old Suniel Michael Ross of Rhode Island, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Toyota – a 40-year-old Wallingford man – wasn’t injured in the collision, according to police.
A portion of I-95 North in the area was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Rahiem Farrow at 860-696-2500 or email at Rahiem.Farrow@ct.gov. Police are also asking anyone who was driving through the area at the time and may have dashcam video to contact Farrow.
