Purse Snatchings Reported In West Haven: Police

WEST HAVEN, CT — Police are reminding residents to remain alert following recent reports of purse snatchings in West Haven.

The incidents have occurred in gas station lots and retail areas where “suspects are targeting distracted individuals,” according to police.

“We encourage everyone to stay aware of their surroundings, keep handbags and personal belongings close, and avoid leaving valuables unattended in shopping carts or vehicles,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “If you’re pumping gas, lock your doors and keep the keys with you so no one can get into to your car.

“If you observe any suspicious activity, please contact the West Haven Police Department immediately.
