Officer Shot; Suspect Fatally Shot By Police: West Haven PD

Police responded to a domestic violence complaint Friday and a suspect shot an officer, and the suspect was fatally shot, police said.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A man, who is accused of shooting a West Haven police officer in the leg, was fatally shot by an officer, police said Friday morning.

At 1:55 a.m. Friday, police responded to an apartment building at 296 Terrace Ave. on a domestic violence complaint.

Police said a man produced a firearm and shot an officer in the leg. An officer on scene returned fire and struck the suspect, police said.

The man was given CPR and medical attention and transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The police officer who was shot was also taken to a hospital, police said.

An investigation is being conducted by the Office of Inspector General, the Milford States Attorney's Office and Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad, police said.
