Walker Promoting Pedestrian Safety Awareness With Trek Down Route 1
One 75-year-old man is walking through West Haven to promote pedestrian safety.
WEST HAVEN--At 75, Ray Rauth is certainly not taking the easy road.
That is, if you consider the 120-mile trek easy. The Weston man is walking 120 miles across Connecticut and Rhode Island to promote pedestrian safety, The New Haven Register reports.
On Saturday, he made his way down Route 1 in Milford and West Haven, the Register reports. He started his long journey on June 14 and is expected to finish this week.

Rauth told the newspaper that he wants state and local officials to install more signs and sidewalks for walkers and bicyclists. He said that 10 pedestrians were killed on Route 1 in the past three years, and cities and towns need to do more to protect pedestrians.
