West Haven Businesses Cited In Alcohol Compliance Checks
Officials recently conducted undercover alcohol compliance checks at 23 liquor retailers in West Haven.
WEST HAVEN, CT — Five West Haven businesses were cited for illegally selling alcohol to someone under the age of 21, according to police.
The West Haven Police Department and West Haven Prevention Council partnered with the Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division to conduct undercover alcohol compliance checks at 23 West Haven liquor retailers on March 27.
Trained volunteers work with law enforcement to attempt to purchase alcohol from local retailers and citations are issued for those who sell to minors, according to officials.

“West Haven Prevention Council appreciates the cooperation of local establishments and the dedication of enforcement officials in ensuring responsible alcohol sales,” officials wrote in a news release. “It is crucial for all businesses to consistently check identification to prevent underage alcohol sales, as compliance checks are conducted periodically without prior notice.”
