West Haven Man, 23, Who Fought For His Life After Crash Has Died: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — A scooter rider who was initially critically injured by a vehicle in a mid-October, late night hit-and-run crash has died, police said.
It was just after 11 p.m. on Oct. 18 when police learned that scooter rider Priyanshu Agwal, 23, of West Haven, was struck at the intersection of Whalley Avenue and Amity Road, according to New Haven police spokesperson Sgt. Cherelle Carr.
Agwal was a graduate student at the University of New Haven, "and an aspiring business analytics professional," the New Haven Independent reported.

The vehicle fled the scene of the crash, she said, and police were unsuccessful in locating it.
Agwal was found unresponsive in the roadway and first responders rendered aid and then rushed them to Yale New Haven Hospital, Carr said. At the time, medical personnel told police the young West Haven man suffered life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition, Carr said.

Monday, police were notified that Agwal succumbed to those injuries on Oct. 26.
Carr said the investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information will be released until the report is finalized by the New Haven Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
Last month, Carr said it was reported that the "evading vehicle" was traveling west through the intersection of Whalley Avenue at Amity Road, as Agwal was traveling east on Whalley when they collided at the intersection, police said.
