West Haven Tree Commission Chair, Member Announce Resignation

WEST HAVEN--Two members of the West Haven Tree Commission, including the current chairman, announced their resignations at a public meeting Monday night.

According to a report in The New Haven Register, Chairman John Haas and Member and former Chairwoman Michelle Matteo both resigned, stating the city lacks an urban forestry plan and needlessly removed trees.

The two announced their resignations and read a letter during Monday night's city council meeting.

"'The past two years have been a series of unprofessional missteps and errors in judgement on the part of this administration...'" the two stated in a letter read at the meeting, according to The New Haven Register.
