2 Killed In Fiery Crash, IDs Released: Easton Police

Police now say two people died in a fiery crash, and on Monday they released the identities of the two people who died.

EASTON, CT — Two people were killed in a two-car head-on collision in Easton, police said Monday. The crash occurred on Saturday night.

"A preliminary investigation revealed that a two-car head on collision occurred on Rt. 58 south of Center Road," police said Monday. "Both vehicles were occupied by one person. One operator was pronounced deceased at the scene. He is a male, age 58 identified as Mario Licona, a resident of Bridgeport, CT. The other operator was transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport and later succumbed to her injuries. She is identified as Florence Mahoney age 87 of Redding, CT."

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Fairfield Police Crash Investigation Unit.

At 7:39 p.m. Saturday, the Easton Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a serious two car motor vehicle accident on Rt. 58 south of Center Road. Upon arrival, the police officers found one vehicle on fire and the other with serious damage, police said.

The Easton Fire Department responded and extinguished the vehicle.
