20 Vehicle Break-Ins, 2 Thefts Reported In Easton Over 2 Weeks

The Easton Police Department is encouraging residents to make sure their cars are locked and to refrain from keeping valuables inside them.

EASTON, CT — The Easton Police Department is reminding town residents to lock their vehicles and take their keys inside after officers dealt with over 20 vehicle break-ins and two vehicle thefts in the last two weeks.

Police said the crimes have been occurring all over town.

"The Easton Police Department has been diligently patrolling, however our resources are limited," police wrote on Facebook.

Ensuring vehicles are locked and valuables are not inside them is the easiest way to combat break-ins and thefts, police said.

"These criminals generally do not smash windows and they go for the 'soft targets,' AKA unlocked cars," police said. "Cash, credit cards, gift cards, and Christmas gifts have all been taken from unlocked cars."
