The meeting was called to order at 4:02 p.m. by Chairperson Jennifer Wible. Board members received a staffing update from Superintendent Dr. Thomas McKinnon, who outlined changes since the start of the school year and following the adoption of the 2025–26 budget. Dr. Pogonelski provided additional details on paraprofessional and non-certified staffing needs at Samuel Staples Elementary School, including current vacancies and hiring efforts. Officials also discussed the potential cost implications of outplacement, with further information expected at the board’s January meeting.

The board also reviewed committee appointments and attendance guidelines, noting that while all board members may attend committee meetings, only appointed members may vote. The proposal would include a dedicated committee and a funding mechanism for routine maintenance and major repairs. The potential committee would include representatives from the Board of Education, the town and the Board of Finance. The discussion also referenced anticipated board participation at the Jan. 6 Board of Finance meeting.
